The Inspector General of Police, Muhammad Abubakar Adamu, has disclosed plans to partner with El-Jahab Mubarak Nigeria Limited, an indigenous garment firm in Kaduna, for the production uniform for personnel.

The IGP disclosed this yesterday when he visited the factory to assess its facilities.

Represented by the Deputy Inspector-General of Police in charge of Logistics and Supply, Fredrick Taiwo Lakanu, the IG said this was to support local businesses in the country.

According to him, “The company produces uniform and these are the things we need to equip the force, so we will buy and we will make sure we do mass buying because apart from fighting crime, I am interested in the turning out of our officers.”

While noting that the force would be recruiting about 10, 000 officers both junior and senior, he added: “We will need to equip them and the advantage El-Jahab Mubarak has is that it is an indigenous company. I believe in indigenouship because it is encouraging our local people to patronize Nigerian products, so we will definitely patronize.”

The Managing Director and the Chief Executive Officer of the firm, Alhaji Jafar Abdulkadir, said the company had over 200 tailoring machines and 15 computerised cardigan/sweater production machines in addition to 80 head computerized embroidery machines.
