The police yesterday stopped worshippers from conducting Juma’at prayers at a new mosque on Yakubu Avenue, GRA Kaduna over an alleged violation of building plan.

The mosque built by a businessman, Alhaji Sani Dauda (ASD), was commissioned last week.

Our reporter who visited the mosque yesterday around 1:00pm saw a police vehicle from the Unguwar Rimi Division parked there while  people who went there to pray were turned back as the mosque was closed.

“We were told that there would be no prayer today (Friday) because the builder was said to have not complied with the building permit,” a Hisbah guard said.

A another source said the builder initially applied to build a small compound mosque  which was approved but he later turned it to a big juma’at mosque.

“Government wrote to him through KASUPDA on why he changed the initial plan to juma’at mosque but he went ahead to commission the mosque last Friday,” he said.

Efforts to speak with the builder, Alhaji Sani Dauda, were futile as he didn’t answer calls or reply a text message sent to him on the matter.
