Police step up visibility policing in Plateau

The Plateau State Police Command has stepped up what it called visibility policing in Jos and its environs.
State command spokesman, DSP Emmanuel Abuh, told Daily Trust that the command initiated visibility policing to reinforce the public’s confidence in the police.
“The commissioner of police has stepped up patrol and deployed more officers and men as part of his visibility policy. You can attest that this strategy among many others which we may not want to make public are addressing Plateau’s security issues,” DSP Abuh said.
Only two days earlier, the Deputy Inspector General of Police (DIG) in charge of “F” Department of Research and Planning, Kakwe Christopher Katso, visited the command and hailed it for what he called proactive policing. He said the command has recorded successes in arms mop-up.
He said policemen on duty must remain on their beats and must be routinely supervised by their superiors.
