Police rescue pregnant woman, arrest abductors in Imo

The Nigeria Police in Imo State have rescued a 5-month-old pregnant woman, identified as Miss Amarachi Okechukwu Dioku, and arrested five people who abducted her.

Police Public Relations Officer, CSP Mike Abatam, said in a statement that the arrest followed credible information received by the tactical unit on September 9, 2021 at about 8.30am that the victim, aged 18 years, of Umudurualaoka Uba Ifakala in Mbaitoli Local Government Area, who was earlier reported missing by her parents on May 23, 2021, was sighted in the premises of a church located in an isolated area along MCC/Uratta Road in Owerri North Local Government Area.

He said the Commissioner of Police, Rabiu Hussaini, immediately dispatched the command’s Anti-Kidnapping Unit, who mobilised, stormed and condoned the church – Jesus Life Assembly, where the prime suspect and resident Evangelist of the church, Evangelist Ugochi Orisakwe, 47, was arrested.

Others arrested and taken to the station along with him are Chidi Orisakwe (M), 34; Pauline Nwagbunwanne (F), 42; Elizabeth Uzoma (F), 61; and Chibueze Joy (F), 31.
