Bayelsa State Police Command has announced the release of a kidnapped victim, Dr Eleweremi Samuel after spending 17 days in kidnappers’ den.

According to the police, Dr Samuel was kidnapped at his residence in Yenagoa on July 22, 2020 and was released by the abductors on August 8, 2020 after intense pressure from the operatives of Operation Puff Adder.

The police spokesman, SP Asinim Butswat, who announced this in a statement in Yenagoa on Tuesday, said Operatives of Operation Puff Adder, in the state are intensifying efforts to arrest other suspects.

He said: “Dr Eleweremi Samuel was Kidnapped at his residence in Yenagoa, on 22 July, 2020, by unknown gunmen.

“Operatives of the Bayelsa State Police Command are on the trail of the Kidnappers. A suspect believed to be behind the Kidnap was arrested on 2nd August, 2020 and he is now under interrogation in Police custody. It is believed that the arrest of this suspect mounted pressure on the hoodlums, forcing them to release the victim on 8 August, 2020.

“The Commissioner of Police, Bayelsa State Command, CP Mike Okoli fsi, has debriefed the victim who has volunteered useful information that will assist the Police in the investigation,” he said.
