Police rescue kidnapped 54-year-old, recovered ammunitions

Operatives of the Delta State Police Command said they have rescued a 54-year-old man from suspected kidnappers in the state. City & Crime reports that the Public Relations Officer of the Command, DSP Bright Edafe disclosed this to newsmen in Asaba.

Edafe said the 54-year-old man (name withheld) was rescued during a stop and search along Okwutaiire Community in Okpe Local Government Area of the state by operatives of the Safer Highway Patrol team. He said his abductors who were on a Toyota Camry 2.4 with registration number GGE 645 FM, however, jumped out of the moving vehicle, fled into a nearby bush, abandoned the vehicle and the rescued victim.

He explained that during the search of the vehicle, two AK47 rifles with 13 rounds of 7.62mm live ammunition concealed inside the vehicle engine compartment and in the trunk of the car were recovered. The command’s image maker added that investigations are ongoing to arrest the fleeing members of the gang.
