The police in Benue State have rescued 9 kidnap victims. They were abducted from a vehicle while travelling along the Ojano-Oglewu road, near Otukpo Local Government Area.
The police public relations officer, Benue State command, SP Catherine Anene, in a statement noted that the victims were rescued and some of the kidnappers apprehended few days ago.
Anene stated, “On June 13, 2024, about 1700hrs, information was received, that while a Benue Links vehicle was conveying passengers from Onitsha to Makurdi, gunmen suddenly emerged from a nearby forest around Ojano-Oglewu and shot sporadically at the vehicle, forcing it to stop.
“The driver of the said vehicle sustained gunshot injuries that led to his death, while the passengers were kidnapped.
