The police and vigilantes in Edo State have rescued three kidnap victims, Sunday Okoye (32), Eze Ifeanyi Chukwu (50) and Michael Ilugbunan (49), after a gun duel with their kidnappers in Emu Forest in Esan South East LGA.
The victims were said to be driving on Okhuessan-Emu road when they were kidnapped by gunmen who later called their family members and demanded a N10m ransom.
A police source told our reporter that the suspected kidnappers on sighting the combined security team engaged opened fire on them but that following a gun fight they fled their hideouts and abandoned the victims.
Efforts to reach the state command’s spokesperson, SP Chidi Nwabuzor, on the incident were not successful.
