The Kaduna State police command has rescued 15 persons earlier abducted by bandits within Chikun Local Government Area of the state.
According to police report as revealed by the Kaduna State Commissioner for Internal Security and Home Affairs, Samuel Aruwan, three women earlier abducted from Rijiya Uku village were rescued while the remaining 12 were found and rescued around Buruku forest.
According to Aruwan, the police command’s operational feedback to the state government stated that three women identified as Ladi Nuhu, Laraba Yusuf and Justina Ayuba were kidnapped on November 18, 2020 when armed bandits attacked a village in a neighbouring state.
“Since then, the bandits moved the hostages around to evade security forces, eventually crossing into Chikun Local Government Area. Following a tip-off on Thursday, April 1, 2021, police personnel mobilised to the area and engaged the bandits, forcing them to abandon their captives,” he said.
He said the police had rescued 12 persons in Buruku forest while the criminals escaped.
Aruwan explained that while receiving the report, Governor Nasir el-Rufai commended the Kaduna State police command under the leadership of CP Umar Musa Muri.
