Operatives of the Edo Police Command yesterday rescued 14 people kidnapped by armed men in Edo State.
It was gathered that the people were kidnapped on November 24 on the Lagos-Abuja Road, by Ikeran Oke, Ibillo, in Akoko-Edo LGA of the state.
The state command’s spokesman, SP Chidi Nwanbuzor, said the victims were passengers on two Coaster buses travelling from Benue State to Ilorin, Kwara State, for a wedding ceremony when they were kidnapped by the gunmen.
He said immediately after the incident, a security team comprising the army, police and hunters mobilised for bush combing and rescued nine people on the day of the incident, while an unspecified number of people are still missing.

He said on November 25, five other victims were rescued in the bush, adding that the bush combing operation for the possible rescue of all the passengers is still on.
The spokesman said the Commissioner of Police, Muhammed Dankwara, has given a marching order to work with the command’s tactical teams to ensure the rescue of other victims unharmed.
