The Kwali division of the FCT Police Command has recovered a locally made double barrel gun from two herdsmen involved in motorcycle accident at Piri village, along the Abuja-Lokoja road.
A witness said the accident happened around 3pm on Monday, when the herdsmen had a back tyre burst on their way from Kwaita village to Yangoji.
“I was also riding on my motorcycle when the two Fulani men ahead of me were involved in the accident after their back tyre burst. Police men on patrol who arrived the scene to rescue them found a short gun wrapped in clothes inside a bag they were carrying,” he said.
A police source at Kwali division, who preferred anonymity, confirmed the recovery of a locally made double barrel gun from the bag of the two herdsmen.
“Actually, a locally made double barrel gun was recovered from the victims. And unfortunately, one of them who was riding the motorcycle sustained serious injuries and later died at Rhema hospital in Kwali Monday night,” he said.
The spokesperson of the FCT police command, ASP Maryam Yusuf, said she would make enquiries and get back to our reporter about the incident but she did not, at the time of filing the report.
