Detectives from the Lagos State Police Command have rescued a newborn baby abandoned along Alhaji Masha Road in Surulere, Lagos.
The baby, left inside a polythene bag, was discovered by a social worker who heard the infant’s cries.
Benjamin Hundeyin, Lagos State police spokesman, said a social worker from a Surulere hospital alerted the Surulere police station on Wednesday after finding the baby around 5am.

The baby boy was swiftly taken to the Randle General Hospital for medical attention and was responding well to treatment.
