Police recover 7 stolen cars, rifles in Abuja

The FCT Police Commissioner, CP Benneth Igweh, has paraded 12 suspects over car theft and “one chance’ robbery.

 CP Igweh, while speaking with newsmen during the parade of the suspects at the command on Monday in Abuja, said two notorious car snatchers were arrested by policemen at the Apo Legislative quarters.

 He said the suspects,who gave their names as Anthony Chibuzor and Jonas Chikwe from Lagos, have been on the wanted list of the command.

According to him, three exotic vehicles that comprised of a Toyota Camry with Reg No. Lagos 23, An Audi A4 with Reg No. KRD 349 JD and a Honda Accord Sports with Reg No. BDG 42 JC were recovered from them, adding that the cars’ chassis numbers had been altered by the suspects.

He also disclosed that police operatives from Maitama division, while on routine patrol along NICON Junction, arrested four one chance robbers, saying the suspects were arrested after they were given a hot chase, forcing them to abandon their vehicle and taken to their heels. 

He said the suspects gave their names as Hamza Ibrahim, Mubarak Abubakar, Abubakar Suleiman and Mohammed Lawal and have all confessed to the crime.

  He further disclosed that another six suspects were also arrested for allegedly withdrawing the sum of N2.3 million from their victim in Abuja.

 CP Igweh said four additional vehicles, four locally made rifles, ten live cartridges and a sum of N2.4 million were also recovered as exhibits.
