The Police in Benue State have recovered five stolen cars in just two weeks of cracking down on vehicle criminals within the state.
State Police Commissioner, Ene Okon, made the disclosure at his office in Makurdi while answering questions from newsmen.
Okon said at his resumption about a month ago, the command had challenges of tackling criminals who specialised in removing peoples’ cars from where they are parked, especially around the state capital, Makurdi and its environs.
“We (operatives) swung into action and in just two weeks, we have recovered at least, five of such stolen cars. One of them belonged to a retired commissioner of police,” he said.
The police commissioner therefore, appealed to residents to, beyond other measures, secure their cars with vehicle trackers even as the command has put up proactive moves to combat the crime.
