The Police Command in Adamawa says it has recovered five AK-47 rifles, pistols, locally made single barrel gun and two rounds of live ammunition in the state.
The command said it also arrested 44 suspected criminals in connection with the recovered arms and ammunition.

Mr Sikiru Akande, the Commissioner of Police in the state, made this known in Yola on Monday while briefing newsmen.
He said the suspects were arrested for various offences ranging from kidnapping, culpable homicide, rape, theft and other violent crimes.
Other items recovered from them, according to the CP, were cartons of hydraulic oil, hand-sets, generator, television and other electronic gadgets, cutlass, knife, a tricycle and car wind-screen.
“Police operatives drawn from the crack squad, Special Rapid Response Squad, Criminal In-vestigation Department and the divisional police headquarters have been directed to carry out tactical and intelligence-driven dusk to dawn raids of criminal hideouts,” he added.
Akande assured that the command would not allow space for any group of people to tamper with the peace of the state, saying that the police were ready for all emerging security challenges.
He urged politicians to be decent and law-abiding during campaigns and other political gath-erings.
He assured that the police are committed to the peaceful conduct of political activities in the state. (NAN)
