Police recover 21 illicit arms, say cultism threat to security

The Commissioner of Police Lagos State Command, CP Idowu Owohunwa, has said the command recovered about 21 illegal firearms from different gangs across the state in March 2023 alone.

Owohunwa said illicit firearms and cultism constitute major security threats to the peace and security of the state.

The Lagos State police boss disclosed this yesterday at a strategic meeting with the principal staff officer, area commanders and unit heads at the Police Officers mess.

At the meeting, Owohunwa stated that illicit firearms and cultism were challenges to the command, stressing, that they will sustain efforts at mopping them up.

He said area commanders and their respective divisional police officers have been directed to check all activities of cultists in the state.
