A police source said the action followed a report that a woman was attacked along Tipper garage while coming back from work and that she was brutally manhandled and raped.
The source said that what made the incidence strange was that the woman was attacked in the evening and not in the night and nobody was able to rescue her or call the police.
According to the source, the woman’s husband reported the matter to the police at Mabushi division and police team stormed the area.
Another victim, a hair stylist, said she was attacked on her way from Life Camp by some boys, who stopped her on her way.
She said when one of the boys beckoned to her, she ignored him, and the next thing she saw was some group of boys running towards her and grabbed her handbag.
“After taking my handbag, they took the jewelleries I was wearing and what pained me most was the N350,000 contribution money that was in my bag. When I pleaded with them not take the money, they started beating me,” she said.
She said since the incident occurred she has not been able to go to her shop because of the psychological trauma she endured in the hands of the suspects.
When contacted, the Mabushi Divisional Police Officer, Deputy Superintendent Kazim Saheed, confirmed the incident and stated that they raided Tipper Garage based on the constant reports they get from residents.
“We were able to arrest 87 suspects including some drug dealers, recovered two pistols and bags of substance suspected to be Indian hemp, we are screening them and so far 78 of them have no means of livelihood and they will soon be charged to court,” he said.
