Police raid kidnappers’ hideout in FCT, nab suspects

Operatives attached to the Anti-Kidnapping Unit of the Federal Capital Territory (FCT) Police command have arrested six people, four males and two females suspected to be kidnappers operating in the nation’s capital.

The suspects, according to a statement by the command, are one Buhari Muhammad (20), a wanted kidnap kingpin; Muhammad Sabiu (20), Isah Abdullahi, Hamzat Musa (21), Fatima Abdullahi (22) and Zuliat Yusuf (23) in a hotel in Bassa village in FCT.

The command said the kidnap syndicate was responsible for the abduction of one Joshua Eze, husband to Blessing Eze who suffered a bullet injury in the process of her husband’s abduction on January 27, 2023.

The statement by SP Josephine Adeh, the command’s spokesperson, said one AK-47 rifle, 10 mobile phones, cash sum of N345,000 and some other valuables were recovered from the suspects, who have reportedly confessed to the crime and other kidnapping incidents in the territory.

According to the statement, the Commissioner of Police, Benneth C. Igweh, has assured members of the public of his commitment to rid FCT of criminality.
