Al-Amin, in a petition to the Kaduna State Commissioner of Police, had accused the APC gubernatorial campaign organisation’s director of media of defrauding him and some other people of the sum of N490, 000. He said the money was for a jingle he and his colleagues produced for the APC gubernatorial candidate in Kaduna State, Malam Nasir El-Rufa’i.
The petition by Abdulsalam’s lawyers, A.M Imam Associates, said: “The work was produced in accordance with specification and terms upon which it was given. The jingle was aired on Liberty Television after which N70, 000 was given to our client through the Managing Director, Liberty Radio while the balance of N490, 000 is still hanging. An undertaking to ensure payment was signed on November 27, 2013. In our client’s effort to amicably resolve this issue, he wrote two letters to Malam Nasir El-Rufa’i for his intervention, but nothing positive happened.”
Kaduna State Police Public Relations Officer, Zuberu Abubakar, said Ashiru Zunta was invited by the police to shed light on the issue and was released after writing a statement.
He said both parties had been asked to go and resolve the issue and come back with their resolution “to enable us know the next step to take.”
