Zamfara State Police Commissioner,  Mr Ayuba Elkanah,  presented N5.1 million as a Life Insurance/IGP welfare scheme to families of five police officers who died in active service in the state.

While presenting the cheques to the next of kin of the deceased officers, he said the gesture was from the Inspector General of Police’s Family Insurance and Group Life Insurance to alleviate the sufferings of families of police officers and men who died in service.

Elkanah said the support was timely and would serve as a morale booster to the police personnel.

He added that the IGP, Usman Alkali Baba, had shown a lot of commitments towards the welfare of officers and men of the Nigerian policemen especially in the payments of life insurance and death benefit to fallen heroes.

He urged the beneficiaries to utilize the money judiciously.

Elkanah disclosed that the Zamfara State police had presented similar cheques to various families of the deceased officers in the past.
