The Nasarawa State Police Command said it had presented cheques worth N22.7 million to families of 15 deceased officers who died in active service in the state.
Presenting the cheques to the next of kin of the deceased officers at the police headquarters, Lafia on Thursday, the state Commissioner of Police, Mr Adesina Soyemi, stated that the gesture was an initiative of the Inspector-general of Police, Usman Baba, tagged, “Group life Assurance”, aimed at supporting the families of officers who died in active service.

He said, “This is also to boost the morale of all other Police officers in the country so that they will put in their best in fighting crime to ensure that Nigeria is safe for all of us.”
Speaking to Daily Trust, one of the beneficiaries, Mrs Nformi Emerencia, commended the police and pledged to make judicious use of the money.
