Police parade nurse attendant, cleric involved in placenta sales

Kwara state police command on Thursday paraded a nurse attendant and an Islamic cleric who were allegedly involved in the sale of placenta of a newborn baby.

The nurse attendant, Fatima Suleiman, of Agaka area of the metropolis, had said that the cleric asked her to get the placenta for him for money ritual purpose.

In an interaction with the nurse attendant, she said that she is a friend to the wife of the cleric and that the cleric actually asked her to get the placenta about two months ago.

“I succeeded in getting one just last week. It’s my first time of engaging in it. Alfa has not given me any money yet neither did he promise me a certain amount of money.  He didn’t tell me what he wanted to use it for”, she said.

Also speaking, the cleric, Salahudeen Ibrahim, said that he inherited the ritual practice, adding that the nurse attendant approached him for the charm to enable her attract people’s favours in her dealings.
