Police parade killers of UNIBEN student

The Edo State Police Command has arrested six suspects allegedly involved in the killing of a University of Benin (UNIBEN) Student, Miss Vera Uwaila Omozuwa.

Vera, 22-years-old, a 100-level UNIBEN Microbiology student was sometimes in May 2020, allegedly gang-raped and killed at the Redeemed Christian Church, Ihovbe quarters in Benin of Edo State.

She was said to have gone to the church to read during lockdown, when her assailants pounced on her.

The suspects are Nelson Ogbebor, Akato Valentine, Mrs. Tina Samuel, Mrs. Mary Ade, Nosa Osabohien, and Collins Ulegbe.

Parading the suspects, the Edo State Commissioner of Police, Mr. Johnson Kokumo said the police decided to intensify efforts in unraveling the killers of the student following the wide outcry that it generated and also, the interest placed by the Inspector General of Police.

According to him, the postmortem results confirmed that the said victim was actually raped.
