The suspects were paraded along with their stolen materials at the state police headquarters, in Akure, Ondo State capital, after they were said to have carried out their robbery operations in different parts of the state.
The state Commissioner of Police, Balla Magaji Nasarawa, while parading the suspects, alleged that Suleiman was caught while opening a Mercedes Benz 200 model belonging to one Mr Oladapo Yaya with registration number FS 409 KJA. He also said the suspect used a locally made master key to open the boot and cart away N1.9 million.
He added that Suleiman had been on the wanted list of the state police force since 2008, in connection with the stealing of N6 million from one of the vehicles parked around Zenith Bank in Alagbaka, Akure.
He stressed that the suspect who was also known as “Oyinbo Dubai,” was a member of an armed robbery gang that specialised in removing money and other valuables from vehicles’ boots.
The commissioner of police promised that his men are ready to combat crime in order to ensure the safety of the people in the state. Nasarawa said two Honda Accord cars and some expensive toys valued at about N2 million were recovered from the suspects.
He assured that the suspects will soon be charged to court after the command was completed investigations into the robbery cases.
