Police parade 93 suspects over expatriates’ kidnap, robbery

The police in Ogun State, yesterday, paraded 93 suspects for various alleged crimes including abduction of a Chinese, Ye Shounong and a South African, Jacob Joannes Bothma. Two of the suspects, Usman Abubakar and Umar Hammed, reportedly kidnapped the duo at Ilaro and Abeokuta and collected ransom to the tune of N23 million. The Commissioner of Police, Bashir Manama, while parading the suspects, said two other suspects, Akinola Lekan and Dare Sowunmi, were arrested for robbing the suspended chairman of the All Progressives Congress (APC), Chief Derin Adebiyi, early this year. The CP said that Adebiyi and his family members were robbed at his residence at the legislative quarters, Ibara, Abeokuta.

The other 89 suspects were said to have been arrested in connection with cases of armed robbery, cultism and theft among other crimes in various areas of the state.
