The police in Bauchi State have paraded 86 suspects arrested over alleged armed robbery, kidnapping, thuggery and dealing in hard drugs among other crimes.
Briefing journalists during the parade, the command’s spokesman, DSP Kamal Datti Abubakar, disclosed that the suspects were arrested at various locations through a sustained operation to rid the state of criminal elements and ensure security.
He added that the operation was part of Operation Puff Adder which was carried out June 15 to June 27 leading to the arrest of the suspects.
“The suspects include Sara-Suka thugs, armed robbers, kidnapping, suspected motorcycle thieves, illicit drug pushers, rapists and two women who attempted to kill their respective new born babies conceived outside marriage among others.
“During the operations, the command also recovered exhibits as follows: one fabricated pistol, three cartridges, one AK47 ammunition, one Golf Passat vehicle, four motorcycles, five handsets and six cutlasses.
“Others were shop breaking instruments, hacksaw, hammer, 37 wrappers, three motor vehicle batteries, 142 bottles of Codeine syrup and 490 assorted illicit drugs.
DSP Abubakar disclosed that the suspects would be charged to court after investigations have been concluded.
