The Plateau State Police Command says it has arrested five suspected kidnappers in various locations in the state.

The police also said it rescued a 6-year-old primary school pupil, a mother and her child during the operation.

The Commissioner of Police in the state, Austin Agbonlanhor, told journalists that the first three suspects kidnapped the pupil while two others abducted the mother and her daughter in a village in Wase Local Government Area of the state.

Agbonlahor said the suspects demanded N12 million as ransom from the father of their 6-year-old victim. He gave the names of the suspects as Abba Sa’eed, Kabiru Sabitu and Abdullahi Kabiru.

For the abduction of the 56-year-old mother and her 16-year-old child, the CP said the police was informed that on November 16, some armed men numbering about four went to the house of one Umaru Ardo and abducted his wife and daughter.

Agbonlahor said Mohammad Sanni Umar, 20, and Ibrahim Alhaji Ardo Boderi, 22, were arrested in Komboloro bush and the two victims rescued unhurt.

He said investigation is in progress to unravel the motive behind the crime and that as soon as investigation was completed, the suspects would be taken to court.
