The FCT police commissioner, CP Sadiq I. Abubakar, has ordered a preliminary investigation into the shooting of an Uber driver, identified as Afam, by a yet-to-be-identified person.
Abubakar, while reacting to an online media report that armed robbers shot dead an Uber driver in Kubwa, an Abuja suburb, on Monday, said the report was misleading.
A statement by the command spokeswoman, DSP Adeh Josephine, said information at the command’s disposal had it that on Monday, at about 10pm, an altercation ensued between an Uber driver and another person yet to be identified over a parking space at Gimbiya Street, Garki.
She said the altercation snowballed into physical violence, which resulted in the armed man shooting the Uber driver and running away.

“And it was upon receipt of the information of the unfortunate incident, operatives from the Garki police division drafted to the scene and rescued the injured Uber driver to the nearest hospital where he is currently recuperating.”
According to her, the police commissioner also ordered an aggressive manhunt to identify and apprehend the fleeing suspect.
