Police, Okada riders clash over illegal duty in Kwara

Two police officers identified as ASP Samuel Acheje and SP Bamidele of F Division, Tanke, Ilorin, Kwara State, have been accused of masterminding the beating of a commercial motorcyclist over his refusal to bribe them during a routine operation.

The incident, it was learnt, led to a clash between commercial motorcycle operators, popularly called Okada riders, and the police in Tanke.

City & Crime gathered that the incident, which happened around 6pm on Wednesday, left the Okada man, Ibrahim, in a state of stupor and that he was rushed to the B Division police clinic, Ilorin.

When contacted, the police spokesman in the state, Ajayi Okasanmi, said, “I am not aware.”
