The Plateau State Police Command has arrested a police officer, Solomon Damak, who allegedly shot one Mr Nyommena Badapba of Tudun Wada community of Jos North LGA during an argument on the forthcoming gubernatorial poll in the state.

City & Crime reports that the incident occurred on Sunday when the officer was arguing that the governorship candidate of the APC wouldn’t win the election, a position that Mr Badapba didn’t agree with, saying that the APC candidate was likely to win the election.

The incident was said to have provoked the armed officer who shot Mr Badapba on his shoulder, following which he was rushed to the Bingham University Teaching Hospital, Jos.

Spokesperson of the command, DSP Alabo Alfred, said, “The circumstance that led to the infliction of the gun injury by the recalcitrant officer does not fit into his professional calling, but was done out of vindictiveness which contradicts the attributes of a Nigerian police officer.

“In order to ensure that the officer does not evade justice, the officer has been arrested, his firearm recovered and he has since been detained for disciplinary action.”
