A vigilante, Ibrahim Aliyu a.k.a Ayici (30), has been arrested by the police at Anguwan-Daji Area of Minna, the Niger State capital for allegedly selling illicit drugs and substances.
The spokesperson of the Niger State Police Command, SP Wasiu Abiodun, said the vigilante was arrested alongside seven other suspects including five males and two females.
He said during the raid, one double barrel gun, knives, cannabis, face masks and other illicit substances were recovered from the suspects.
He said during interrogation, the said Ibrahim Aliyu confessed to be a drug dealer within the area, and claimed to be a vigilante member using the double barrel gun.

Abiodun said Aliyu also confessed that others arrested were his customers.
The police spokesperson said the police in the state had also killed an armed robbery suspect in a gun duel while robbing residents of Toll-gate area of Boyi, Gurara LGA of the state.
SP Wasiu Abiodun said AK47 rifle and Pump Action Gun were recovered by the police during the gun battle.
He said on October 28, 2024, around 5am, police received report that some suspected armed robbers were attacked the victims and robbed them of their valuables.
He said “On receipt of this, police tactical team stationed at Boyi outstation attached to Gawu-Babangida Div mobilised to the scene.
“The team stormed the area and overwhelmed the robbers who were engaged in a fierce gun battle. Consequently, one of the hoodlums was neutralised, one Ak-47 rifle and one automatic pump action rifle were recovered. Two phones taken from the victims among other valuables were also recovered, while others escaped from the scene with gunshot injuries.’’
