Operatives of the FCT Police Command have arrested a suspected armed robbery suspect at Kurudu, an Abuja suburb.
The CP, Benneth Igweh, who disclosed this while parading the suspect on Monday, said he was arrested after a distress call at about 4am on Sunday that armed robbers were operating at Phase 5 in Kurudu.
He said the police, upon receiving the distress call, mobilised to the scene and engaged the robbers in a shootout during which one of the suspects, identified as Abubakar Babangida, was arrested.
According to him, a locally-made gun was recovered from the suspect.

CP Igweh further disclosed that other 70 criminal suspects were arrested during a raid conducted on some black spots by operatives.
He said the raids were conducted in Mpape, Mabushi, Gwarimpa, Karshi, Iddo, Kubwa, Nyanya, Jikwoyi, Lubge and Asokoro.
He said some quantities of dried leaves suspected to be Indian hemp and other illicit drugs were recovered during the raids, even as he added that some of the suspects claimed they were scavengers.
