The police in Benue State have apprehended the leader of a four-man kidnapping gang that specialised in abducting women around Makurdi metropolis and its environ.

Samuel Achoho, the suspected kingpin, was picked up by operatives of Operation Zenda Joint Task Force on Monday barely three days after two other members of his gang were paraded by the State Police Commissioner, Wale Abass.

The spokeswoman of the police, SP Catherine Anene, told newsmen in Makurdi that the suspect, who was trailed by police operatives since he earlier evaded arrest, was finally caught on Monday.

The suspect, in an interview with newsmen in Makurdi, disclosed that his gang specialised in kidnapping women because they were easy targets who cooperated better with their abductors when attacked than males.

He also confessed to have started the criminality alongside his elder brother and a friend (both arrested earlier) about two years ago.
