The police have arrested an ex-government house staff, Yinkere Goodman, for allegedly stealing solar batteries from Creek Haven, Bayelsa State government house.

The Commissioner of Police in the state, Mike Okoli, paraded the suspect alongside 15 others, on Monday, at the State Police Command Headquarters in Yenagoa.

According to the CP, the other suspects were arrested for various economic crimes ranging from vandalizing armoured cables, solar batteries, transformers and other electrical accessories for street lights.

Goodman, who worked as a drainage cleaner at the government house, said he resorted to the crime as he had not been paid for over five months.

The CP said the arrest was the outcome of a strategy adopted by the command after rejigging crime-fighting strategy in the festive season.
