The police in Delta State have arrested a 32-year-old cripple, Abubakar Mohammed, and four others, Mohammed Isah (35), Ibrahim Sani (23), Kabiru Ibrahim (25) and Suleiman Mohammed (38), over alleged child trafficking.
DSP Bright Edafe, the command’s spokesman, who disclosed this to newsmen on Wednesday, said the suspects were members of a child trafficking syndicate that stole children and sold them for huge amounts of money.
He gave the name of the child allegedly being trafficked as three-year-old Abubakar Atiku and his mother, Aisha Yusuf.
Edafe said the suspects were waiting for a buyer who agreed to pay the sum of N800,000 when they were arrested.

He disclosed that the principal suspect, Isah, was arrested in Abraka Market in Oshimili-South LGA; while Suleiman, in whose custody the child was found, was arrested in a hotel in Onitsha, Anambra State.
Edafe explained that the mother of the child who resided in Abraka community, Asaba, reported at the station that her child was stolen by the principal suspect, Isah.
He said the child has been reunited with the mother.
