Police nab 4 robbery suspects, recover vehicles in Abuja

Detectives from the Zone 7 Police Headquarters comprising the FCT and Niger State have arrested four suspected armed robbers and recovered stolen vehicles and firearms.

Spokesman of the zone, DSP MB Abdulkadir, on his X handle, gave the names of the suspects as Solomon Nuhu, Faruk Umar, Bolaji Yusu and Lawal Yusuf.

Abdulkadir said detectives arrested one Haruna Akubo, alias Young Alhaji, from whom five suspected stolen vehicles were recovered at a motor stand in Karu LGA of Nasarawa State.

He said two other suspects, Bolaji Yusuf and Abubakar Umar, were also arrested at a plaza in Mararaba with two vehicle master keys and three stolen phones.

He further said, “However, preliminary investigation also led the detectives to recover 32 phones of different make and Beretta pistol ammunition in the possession of one Faruk Umar.

“In the course of investigation, the Beretta pistol was recovered from one Solomon Nuhu who claimed he bought it from Faruk Umar at the rate of N130,000.”

He explained that the team also traced some of the stolen vehicles to Ankpa LGA in Kogi State, where five other cars were recovered, including a Lexus IS 250, which owner was killed.

He said, “In all, a total of 10 vehicles of different brands were recovered from the syndicate, with all their chassis numbers altered. Other exhibits also recovered include one fabricated Beretta pistol with one live ammunition, three laptops of different makes, one LG television set, two POS machines, 13 used SIM cards, 14 packs of SIM cards and other phone kits.’’
