Police nab 2 undergraduates over cultism, recover pistol

Operatives of Operation Puff Adder in the Bayelsa State police command have arrested two students of the state-owned Niger Delta University (NDU), Wilberforce Island, Amassoma in Southern Ijaw Local Government, over cultism and unlawful possession of a revolver pistol.

The spokesman of the police in the state, SP Asinim Butswat, said the suspects, Joshua Daniel and Kelvin Are had already confessed to being members of Vikings Confraternity.

He said, “The suspects, Joshua Daniel, 23, a 300-level student of Economics and Kevin Are, 21, a 200-level student of the Department of Mechanical Engineering, were arrested at Amassoma Jetty, on March 16, 2021 about 03:00am, in possession of a revolver pistol.

“They confessed to being members of the Vikings Confraternity. They will be charged to court at the conclusion of investigation.”
