The Police on Monday said 16 persons were arrested in Orolu area in possession of customized tags, face caps and jackets with the inscription of ‘INEC Osun 2018 Election Observer’.
The police spokesperson in the state, Folasade Odoro said membership cards of the People Democratic Party were also found in possession of the suspects.
The suspects include Moshood Adejare, Oyelayo Dayo, Olaoye Asimi, Raimi Taofeeq, Gbenga Olapade, Charles Amibiogoiu, Ayomide Ayansola, Kayode Dada, Daramola Segun, Tunji Akinroyinmi, Kunle ADEDEJI, Habeeb Bahiru, Yisa Sodiq, Adeolu Bamijoko, Oladipo Samson and Adeolu Bamidele.
The PPRO said “Police team on “stop-and-search” duties at Orolu intercepted vehicles with 16 persons on board with customized INEC tags, face cap and jackets with the inscription of “INEC Osun 2018 Election Observer” and PDP membership cards.
“The suspects are using the items to have easy access to restricted areas meant for personnel with due accreditation.”
Odoro denied the claim that Nigeria Police Force arrested accredited INEC observers and prevented them from monitoring the election.
