Police and the military have launched a joint operation to dismantle kidnappers, armed robbers and other violent criminal syndicates that have been terrorising residents of Imi State.
The Commissioner of Police in Imo, Aboki Danjuma, announced the joint operation while briefing newsmen yesterday in Owerri, the state capital.
The operation, he said, would leverage the combined expertise and resources of both agencies to bring those responsible for these criminal acts to justice.
He said the onslaught was in response to increased kidnapping incidents in some areas that have raised significant concern among residents and students.

The police commissioner said the command has deployed a team of highly trained personnel to conduct focused operations aimed at neutralising the threat posed by the criminal elements.
“Our objective is to restore peace and security to the affected communities and to guarantee that educational institutions, including the Federal University of Technology, Owerri (FUTO) remain a safe environment for learning.”
