The Delta State police command has initiated a manhunt for a man accused of killing his six-year-old daughter.
SP Bright Edafe, the public relations officer of the command, disclosed this Monday to journalists in Asaba.
Edafe stated that the suspect, identified as Mr Sankey Ovemureye, is currently on the run after allegedly smashing his daughter’s head repeatedly against a wall on Saturday. The incident was reported to the police by the suspect’s brother.
The incident occurred at Uviama New Layout, Agbarho in Ughelli North Local Government Area, Edafe clarified.

He further informed that the Agbarho divisional deadquarters had deposited the child’s body at the mortuary.
Meanwhile, Commissioner Olufemi Abaniwonda, expressing deep dismay over the “barbaric act,” directed an intensive manhunt for the suspect. He assured the public that efforts were underway to apprehend the suspect and ensure that justice is served.
