The Osun State Police Command, on Tuesday, said it has launched a manhunt for a 25-year-old automobile mechanic, Albert Olaposi, who ran away after he allegedly beheaded his five-year-old daughter, Mercy, at Gbongan in Osun State.
The Police Public Relations Officer for Osun State Police Command, Yemisi Opalola, told Daily Trust that detectives have been detailed to hunt and arrest the suspect.

It was learnt that the deceased was living with her paternal grandmother at Oke-Oje area of Gbongan while Olaposi live in another area of the town.
Olaposi was said to have visited the residence of his mother on Monday, took his daughter away and beheaded her.
A resident of Oke-Oje, who spoke on condition of anonymity, said the victim’s grandmother raised the alarm when she realised that her son had killed the little girl.
“The suspect immediately fled the scene when the mother raised the alarm.
“People around tried to apprehend him but they could not,” the resident said.
The PPRO said the remains of the deceased had been deposited in the morgue of the Obafemi Awolowo University Teaching Hospital, Ile-Ife and assured that the suspect would be apprehended.
