The Nasarawa State Police Command has launched a manhunt for the kidnappers of Dr. Joseph Kigbu, a former member of the House of Representatives and his wife.
The couple was abducted on Monday evening while travelling to Jos, Plateau State.
During the attack, which occurred around 6:30 pm between the Nunku community in Nasarawa State’s Akwanga Local Government Area and the Gwantu community in Kaduna State’s Sanga Local Government Area, a police officer assigned to the politician was killed.
A resident reported sporadic gunfire during the incident and confirmed finding the lifeless body of the police officer at the scene.

Speaking on the incident, Nasarawa State Police Command’s Assistant Public Relations Officer, Yusuf Idi, confirmed the attack and reassured that the Commissioner of Police, Umar Nadada, has ordered tactical units to collaborate with the military and other security agencies to rescue the victims unhurt.
“The CP has directed a comprehensive manhunt for the criminals to ensure their arrest and the safe rescue of the victims,” Idi said.
