A notorious cult leader in the Owube Kingdom, Ahoada West Local Government Area of Rivers State, Izuma David Odiereke aka Solition, was killed in a gun battle with the police in a forest in the area around 4am on Monday.
Briefing newsmen at Ahoada Police Division where the body of the cult leader was brought, Rivers State Commissioner of Police, Olatunji Disu, said Odiereke had been on the wanted list since 2016 and was notorious for his criminal activities, including being a serial killer.
He said previous attempts to capture him had failed, but the police continued their efforts, leading to the fatal encounter.
Disu also mentioned over 10 individuals, including a monarch, who were killed by Odiereke during his time as a cult leader.

Following Odiereke’s death, a large crowd of residents from both Ahoada East and West LGAs gathered to applaud the commissioner of police for the successful operation.
Ben Eke, the chairman of Ahoada East LGA, expressed hope that the death of the notorious cult leader would lead to a decrease in criminal activities in the area.
