Five people have been rescued, including three children, in a foiled kidnap attempt in the Birnin Gwari area of Kaduna State on Friday.
In another development, the police in Kaduna have arrested a suspected arms dealer and killed one bandit. They also recovered eight SMG rifles, one pistol and 85 rounds of 7.62 X 39mm live ammunition.

The spokesman of the command, ASP Mohamed Jalige, who confirmed this in a statement, identified the rescued victims as Nuhu Garba, Ismail Muhammed, Halima Suleiman, Karima Ayuba, all of Birnin Gwari, and Musba’u Usman of Funtuwa town in Katsina State.
Jalige, who assured that efforts were on high gear to ensure that the fleeing bandits were apprehended, said the victims had since been reunited with their families.
