The police in Niger State have killed two suspected kidnappers in Saminaka Forest in Lapai LGA of Niger State.
The command’s spokesman, DSP Wasiu Abiodun, disclosed this at the command’s headquarters, Minna, while parading two other suspected kidnappers that were arrested in Minna.
Abiodun said two kidnappers were killed after they attacked someone in Zolegi village via Saminaka, Lapai, and inflicted a machete cut on his head and kidnapped his wife.
He said, “Police tactical team led by DPO of Lapai and vigilantes mobilised and stormed Saminaka Forest where the kidnapped victim was suspected to have been kept.
“While combing the forest, a gun duel ensued between the team and the hoodlums, and during the gun battle, two among the hoodlums were neutralised, while others escaped into the forest with bullet injuries, and one AK-47 rifle with 20 rounds of ammunition recovered.”
He said the abducted woman was rescued unhurt.
Abiodun further said the police in the state also arrested two suspected kidnappers, Umar Aliyu (35) of Diri-Ndaji, Kebbi State, and Moh’d Abubakar (25) of Peregi, Kogi State.
He said the suspects were arrested at Kure-Market Park, Minna, while boarding a commercial vehicle to Kebbi, and that during interrogation, Aliyu confessed that he participated in kidnapping activities in Sakaba in Kebbi last year and that he recently relocated from there to Unguwan-Kuka area of Bosso, Minna.
He said one AK-47 rifle with 13 rounds of ammunition were recovered from the suspects.
