The police in Katsina State have said that they have neutralised two bandits, recovered two AK-47 rifles and 97 rounds of ammunition and repelled terrorists from attacking Yasore village in Batsari LGA.
The spokesperson of the command, SP Gambo Isah, in a statement issued on Thursday, said, “Today, Thursday, 02/03/2023 at about 0730hrs, a distress call was received that terrorists in their numbers, shooting sporadically with AK-47 rifles, attacked Yasore village. Consequently, the DPO of Batsari led a combined team of police and vigilantes to the area, engaged the hoodlums in a fierce gun duel and successfully repelled them.

“In the course of scanning the scene, the team recovered the following: two corpses of neutralised terrorists, two AK-47 rifles, five AK-47 rifle magazines, 97 pieces of 7.62mm ammunition of AK-47, two Itel phones and a bunch of charms.”
Isah added that a black bag containing N2,580, a lighter, a pen and a blue veil were also recovered from the scene.
He said many of the terrorists were reasonably believed to have been neutralised or escaped the scene with gunshot wounds, noting that search parties were combing the bushes with a view of arresting them and or recovering their corpses.
