The police in Edo State police have killed a kidnapper during a gun battle in an operation to rescue a kidnapped victim.
The police, it was learnt, rescued a kidnapped victim during the operation while other kidnappers escaped on August 22, at Ayaen community in Uhunmwode LGA.
The command’s spokesperson, Chidi Nwanbuzor, who confirmed the killing of the kidnapper and rescue of the victim said one Mr Aisosa Moses of Ayaen community reported to the police that while returning home with his wife and daughter, two hoodlums ambushed them at the entrance of his house and whisked the wife away.
He said, “Operatives trailed the kidnappers to their hideout at Uzala Forest and the suspects on sighting the team of operatives attempted to escape through the bushes and in the process one of them was neutralised while others escaped, leaving their captive.
