Police job: Low turnout from S/East, S/South, Lagos as 81,005 apply nationwide

The Nigeria Police Force on Wednesday said there is a low turnout of applicants from Lagos, South East and South South for the position of police constables.

Force spokesman, Frank Mba, in a statement, said a statistical analysis showed that 81,005 applications were received nationwide as of January 7.

He added: ‘’Out of this figure, only 1,404 applications – less than 2% of the total applications – were received from the five states in the South East and 261 from Lagos State, with Anambra State having the least figure of 158 applicants.’’

Mba announced an extension of the deadline of the online registration in the ongoing 2021 recruitment exercise for interested and eligible Nigerians into the Force.

He said the closure of the portal, earlier scheduled for this week, had been extended to January 22.

He urged the religious leaders, local and state governments as well as other interest groups in the affected geopolitical zones and Lagos State to assist in mobilizing their citizens and wards.

He said they should encourage them to take advantage of the opportunity to seek a career path in the Force to enable the zones and the state meet up with the required quota for their respective areas.
