Police intercept 509 parcel of Indian hemp

The Police in Benue State have intercepted a large cache of Indian hemp packaged in 509 parcels along Otukpo-Makurdi highway of the state.

Also three suspects were arrested in connection with trafficking in the hard drugs.

State Commissioner of Police, Fatai Owoseni, who paraded the suspects alongside the illegal product before newsmen in Makurdi on Monday evening, said, the substance was concealed in a J5 bus that conveyed it.

Owoseni explained that the cartel were intercepted at Alaide by eagle eyed policemen following an intelligent information received after the operatives had insisted that the purported goods loaded in the vehicle be offloaded for proper scrutiny.
