The police in Jigawa State have impounded 60 motorcycles and arrested 79 suspects during raids on criminal hideouts and black spots.
The command’s spokesman, Lawan Shiisu, in a statement on Monday, said policemen at Jahun, Gwaram, Dutse, Maigatari, Malam Madori, Guri, Fanisau and Kazaure divisional headquarters acted on intelligence and raided the black spots in their areas of responsibility.

He said the operatives also intercepted nine blocks of Indian hemp, 439 wraps of Indian hemp, D5 tablets, extol tablets, tramadol tablets, diazepam, 12 tubes of rubber solution, three bottles of alcohol and one piece of pentazocine injection.
Among the 79 suspects are two notorious drug peddlers identified as Abdurrashid Umar of Birnin Kudu LGA and Abdullahi Ibrahim of Tsakwawa village.
The police command also impounded 60 motorcycles and 120 litres of petroleum products over their owners contravening state executive orders.
Recall that the Jigawa State Government had ordered restrictions on motorcycle movements from 10pm to 6am, as well as on the selling of petrol above 60 litres.
